We are diving into the specifics of the foundation of hot glass work: gathering and punties. This is highly technical, but I try to explain it so anyone can understand. It's probably way too detailed, so you might want to lay down and take a nap while I talk.

Episode 18 - Death

Thursday Mar 23, 2023

Thursday Mar 23, 2023

This is an attempt to speak about the craft of dealing with death. As an artist, I've created a number of rituals around dealing with death and dying. I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2010, and I've lost a number of close friends and family to suicide, drug overdose and cancer, so this is a very personal story. Very emotional, a great way to cry yourself to sleep. If you ever think that you might die, this is a great podcast for you.

This one is actually about coldworking. I got it switched up with the last episode, so things got a little out of order, but that's what you get for listening to a free podcast from some dude in his car. Very technical, but not as confusing as Chocolate Cake and Depression.
The intimate and technical details of cutting and polishing glass. Way more reasonable than "Cast Iron", but still pretty unreasonable. Sorry about all the car noise, maybe someday I'll have enough time to record this while I'm sitting still.

Originally I posted this as "Coldworking Glass" but I got it mixed up when I uploaded it with "Chocolate and Depression". Very fitting though. You'll probably be depressed after coldworking glass and you might want some chocolate.
I think I explain my chocolate cake recipe, but it's pretty confusing.

Episode 14 - Cast iron

Thursday Mar 09, 2023

Thursday Mar 09, 2023

A detailed, monotonous and confusing description of cast iron and it's uses in the kitchen and glass shop.

Monday Mar 06, 2023

Since y'all did such a good job sitting through all my boring technical talk, I thought it would be nice to confuse you with explaining how confusing and convoluted art fairs and galleries are. I think by the end of this, I was more confused about everything that is art and it's enormous market, but at least I'm not as confused as you'll be when you try to figure out why you wasted all your precious time listening to me explain this stuff.

Episode 12 - Black iron pipe

Thursday Mar 02, 2023

Thursday Mar 02, 2023

Because "Sheetrock and drugs" was such a big hit, I thought I better follow up with some more super technical and confusing and not necessarily totally correct pipe fitting information. I just got done with a big gas pipe job and I've got this stuff fresh in my mind, so it's very smooth and good to sleep to. Minimal "ums" and yawns, but still way too many. Enjoy your rest!

Monday Feb 27, 2023

How to hang sheetrock and properly mud the seams. Because sheetrocking is so boring, I thought I'd also throw in some talk about drugs to keep it interesting. I bet you'll fall asleep anyway.

Episode 10 - Glassblowing tools

Thursday Feb 23, 2023

Thursday Feb 23, 2023

A detailed description of the standard tools found in a glass shop. Lots of long winded descriptions of obscure, confusing tools!
